Abteilung Prof. Dr. Jos Lelieveld
Unsere Forschung fokussiert sich auf Photooxidationsmechanismen, die zentral für die Selbstreinigung der Atmosphäre sind. Wir entwickeln hochempfindliche Instrumente, um Spurengase einschließlich reaktiver Radikale, die in geringen Mengen vorkommen, zu messen und photochemische Reaktionsketten zu bestimmen. Spezialisiert sind wir auf den Bau von Messinstrumenten für die Anwendung in Flugzeugen. Wir verwenden unter anderem laseroptische, massenspektrometrische und gaschromatographische Analysen, um die Hauptabbauprodukte von Kohlenwasserstoffen zu bestimmen. Unsere Untersuchungen umfassen Laborstudien, Feldmessungen an Bord von Flugzeugen und Schiffen sowie Satelliten-Daten. Wir entwickeln ebenfalls Computer-Modelle, um die Wechselwirkung von chemischen und meteorologischen Prozessen zu simulieren, und untersuchen den Einfluss von Änderungen in der Atmosphärenzusammensetzung auf das Klima.
