Forschungsinteressen

My research interests lie in the field of Atmospheric Chemistry and specifically in molecular level reactions occurring in different matrices. To be more specific, molecular level reactions in gas-phase, cloud and fog water as well as human body, are of high interest.

In the Berkemeier Group, I examine the health effects of atmospheric aerosols focusing on the redox chemistry of their constituents. Using EPR spectroscopy, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, I investigate the response of surrogate solutions, mimicking the composition of the human body, upon exposure to aerosols. The analysis of the results is conducted using kinetic modeling.
