The Max Planck Society (MPG) celebrates its 70th anniversary on 26 February 2018. The turbulent beginnings of what is today Germany’s largest non-university science organization were attributable to differences of opinion between the occupying powers and the long shadow cast by its predecessor organization, the Kaiser Wilhelm Society. Besides the 70th anniversary two more milestone jubilees mark the year 2018: The 160th birthday of Max Planck, and the 100th anniversary of Max Planck being presented with the Nobel Prize.

All this is going to be celebrated on September 14, 2018 with nationwide, public MPG science event called the “Max Planck Day”. Learn more about it in the interview with Bill Hansson, the Vice president of the Max Planck Society: https://www.mpg.de/11958118/bill-hansson-interview-max-planck-day
