EU FM7 project: PEGASOS
PEGASOS is to enhance our understanding of the interactions of climate and atmospheric chemistry in the past, present and future. This will allow us to assess the effectiveness of policies in-place and to better design future policy options. Policy making will be influenced by the outcomes; directly by public outreach, and providing relevant results to policy makers, and indirectly by delivering relevant scientific studies to international assessments and organisations that in turn are important in international and European policy making. EU FM7 project: BACCHUS
BACCHUS proposes to quantify key processes and feedbacks controlling ACI, by combining advanced measurements of cloud and aerosol properties with state-of-the-art numerical modelling. The analysis of contrasting environments will be the guiding strategy for BACCHUS. We will investigate the importance of biogenic versus anthropogenic emissions for ACI in regions that are key regulators of Earth's climate (Amazonian rain forest) or are regarded as tipping elements in the climate system (Arctic).
NSFC project: Sources and transformation of key carbonaceous species in the atmosphere
The carbonaceous species are essentially important for the formation of air pollution complex and climate change. However the processes from the emissions of carbonaceous species to the environmental effects via chemical conversion cannot yet be quantified. The project will investigate the emissions and transformation mechanisms of carbonaceous species and their effects on the haze pollution and regional climate.
