Our research group is investigating the chemical composition of aerosol particles and the effects of aerosol chemistry on atmospheric processes. This includes for example the formation of clouds or new particles. We are looking into both the man-made influence of aircraft emissions, diesel exhaust particles and the burning of biomass as well as the natural influence of biological aerosol particles or desert dust on atmospheric aerosol and cloud formation. Most of our measurements are taken using online aerosol mass spectrometry but we also deploy other methods for measuring aerosols. Our work involves measurements in the lab and field taken both on the ground and from aircraft.
