- Biosphere-Atmosphere Interactions in the Amazon Rainforest
We are interested in analyzing fungal particle emissions and the vertical mixing of primary biological aerosol particles (PBAP), examining their effects on atmospheric processes. Understanding the significance if biological aerosols on fog and cloud formations crucial in this ecosystem.
- Vertical Profile Measurements at the Amazon Tall Tower Observatory (ATTO)
We utilize a fully automated robotic lift system (RoLi) for vertical profile measurements at the ATTO site, enabling precise monitoring of aerosol dynamics across different atmospheric layers. The high resolution profiles measured with RoLi help to understand the formation of secondary organic aerosols and the importance of other particle sources for atmospheric processes.
- Single-Particle Analyses Using SEM and STXM
Our research also uses scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM) for detailed single-particle analyses, providing insights into the chemical composition and characteristics of bioaerosols.
- Bioaerosol Emission Patterns of Tropical Fungi in the Amazon
Investigation of the emission patterns of bioaerosols from tropical fungi, highlighting their significance in the Amazon rainforest ecosystem and their implications for climate and atmospheric chemistry.
