MAC-Air Center

The MAC-Air Center (Max Planck – Asia Center for unraveling the nexus of AIR pollution, extreme weather, and monsoon in a warming climate: pathways to global solutions) is studying the interactions between aerosols, solar radiation, and clouds in order to lay the foundation for more effective measures against air pollution and climate change, as well as more reliable forecasts of extreme weather events. The center is a partnership among the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Max-Planck-Institute for Chemistry, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the University of Helsinki (UHEL).

MC³ 4 Earth Center

The MC³ 4 Earth Center is a collaboration of the Max-Planck Institute of Biogeochemistry, Max-Planck-Institute for Chemistry, California Institute of Technology, Carnegie Institution for Science (Department of Global Ecology) and Columbia University. It is dedicated to redefining the frontiers in modeling, analyzing, and predicting the complex dynamics of Earth’s land surfaces and their interactions within the broader climate system. We emphasize the integration of process-based models, where applicable, with the transformative potential of AI to extract insights from advanced Earth observations.
